Comtesse Crocodile 60s Handbag

A soft brown 60s style wild crocodile bag from Comtesse.  This high quality German manufacturer are still going and show real craftsmanship in their handbags.  Although a fairly formal shape this bag still has an unstructured look - it feels kind of squashy!

I like the way the central panel on the front has a stitched border and a crocodile tab for ease of opening with a goldtone 'Comtesse' logo. The bag has a lovely two tone clasp - you turn the chrome coloured piece and underneath is a simple push down button to open.

The two handles are attached by a double hinged horseshoe shaped fastening again in gilt - which is in fabulous condition.  The bag is crocodile throughout including the bottom panel which has four gilt feet to protect the bag.  The metal frame is also croc covered.  When open the inside is in tan leather with crocodile trim to the pocket edges of which there are two on one side - one open and one zipped - and interestingly there is a small crocodile attachment on the front pocket for a lipstick - not see that before.

The bag measures 30.5 cms/12" across and is 19 cms/7.5" high and is 8 cms/3.25" at its widest point.  The two handles measure 34 cms/13.5" from hinge to hinge.  The bag is in lovely condition - its just the handles which are a little marked from being held.
