This Louise Fontaine handbag is an engineering miracle. The exquisite burgundy red crocodile skin is formed around some beautiful gilt fittings which together create a quietly fabulous handbag.

The gilt oblong clasp twists to open the bag on both sides leaving a gilt bar suspended between the two rigid side panels. Once open the beauty of the bag is revealed showing the full delight as the two sides fan out to expose the burgundy red leather interior. There are two pockets on either side, one zipped and one open but with an extra flap over press stud closing pocket. On one side there is stamped ‘Louise Fontaine BRUXELLES’ in gold.

The fine and elaborate fittings make this bag a real gem and the beauty is shown to its best when open – it’s like a handbag version of the ‘grandé vallise’. The quality of the crocodile skin can be seen as the bag measures 10”/25 cms when fully extended.

When closed the bag measures nearly 9”/22 cms across and 6.5”/16 cms high with the rigid handle measuring 11”/28 cms.
